When liquids or gases are stored, this is usually done in barrels. However, for some substances it is necessary for safety reasons to also pressurize this vessel. Logically, this is how the name pressure vessel came into being. Because of the wide range of applications and types of substances that are kept in tanks, there are also a variety of different shapes and designs for pressure vessels as possible, whereby also be used various materials. Technically, even a pressure cooker is a pressure vessel. What are pressure vessels used for?
Pressure vessels, as just indicated, are used for a variety of applications. Within industrial environments you can think of mining, (Petro-)chemicals, reactor vessels and refineries to name a few examples. In these and other industries, pressure vessels are used as an autoclave, distillation tower, pressure reactor, hydraulic tanks and storage tanks for substances such as propane, butane, ammonia and chlorine. In short, pressure vessels are widely used for a large number of applications.

According to the correct guideline
The Pressure Equipment Directive, also known as PED, has been in force within the European Union since 2016. This directive sets the minimum safety requirements that pressure equipment must meet.
